The world of Ganapathi Hegde
Ganapati Hegde (born 1974) is a highly acclaimed contemporary Indian artist based in Bengaluru, celebrated for his "Nature's Fantasia"—vibrant, surreal compositions that blend coastal Karnataka's flora and fauna with Indian mythology. Born in the coastal town of Kumta (Uttara Kannada), Hegde’s childhood in the lush Western Ghats remains his primary inspiration. His work depicts "half-real, half-imagined" worlds where butterflies, chameleons, and frogs coexist with modern symbols like laptops or furniture. He often uses anthropomorphism, giving animals human-like stances to reflect social behaviors. His "Gods in Nature" series reimagines Indian deities (like Ganesha and Lakshmi) through symbolic natural forms, merging spirituality with environmental reverence.
