The world of Bharathi Senthilvelan
Bharathi Senthilvelan (b. 1979) is a contemporary Indian artist based in Bengaluru, known for her vibrant paintings that celebrate childhood nostalgia and emotional connections. Originally from the temple town of Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu, she was naturally influenced by its rich Chola architecture and temple murals. Before committing to fine arts, she had a successful decade-long career in animation and graphic design in the UAE. Her work is often characterized by a blend of abstract elements and figurative storytelling. She uses bright, vivid colour patterns to recreate scenes from her childhood, such as playing with siblings or simple rural life. An avid traveler, she is deeply fascinated by clouds and their shifting patterns, which often reflects in her small-format abstract works.
